Marks Unexplained World Episode 93: Tulpa

Tulpa is a concept originally from Tibetan Buddhism and found in later traditions of mysticism and the paranormal of a materialized being or thought-form, typically in human form that is created through spiritual practice and intense concentration.
Modern practitioners, who call themselves "tulpamancers", use the term to refer to a type of willed imaginary friend which practitioners consider to be sentient and relatively independent.
Modern practitioners predominantly consider tulpas to be a psychological rather than a paranormal concept.

The Amber Room was a chamber decorated in amber panels backed with gold leaf and mirrors, located in the Catherine Palace of Tsarskoye Selo near Saint Petersburg.
After the war, the Amber Room was never seen in public again, though reports have occasionally surfaced stating that pieces of the Amber Room survived the war.

Daniel J. LaPlante is an American convicted murderer serving multiple life sentences for the 1987 murders of Priscilla Gustafson and her two children in Townsend, Massachusetts.
He lived with his mother and stepfather, and whilst growing up, he was sexually and psychologically abused by many adults in his life including his father, stepfather and psychiatrist.
He was diagnosed with dyslexia at an early age, and some of his classmates described him as “creepy" and "weird."

NXIVM was a cult around convicted racketeer and sex offender Keith Raniere.
NXIVM is also the name of the defunct corporation that Keith Raniere founded, which provided seminars in the field of human potential development and served as a front for the organization of criminal activity.
Allison Christin Mack was an American actress.
She was a member of NXIVM, and in 2018, she was arrested by federal authorities on charges of sex trafficking and forced labour conspiracy related to her involvement in NXIVM and its subgroup, DOS.

The Therac-25 was a computer-controlled radiation therapy machine produced by Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) in 1982 after the Therac-6 and Therac-20 units.
It was involved in at least six accidents between 1985 and 1987, in which patients were given massive overdoses of radiation.
Because of concurrent programming errors (also known as race conditions), it sometimes gave its patients radiation doses that were hundreds of times greater than normal, resulting in death or serious injury.

On late Sunday evening, October 27th, 1974, a run of the mill Essex family were driving a route between Harold Hill and Aveley to see relatives.
The Avis family, were on Hacton Lane about one mile out from Hornchurch. Suddenly, while they were on their journey, the car started jerking violently as a mist curled around the car.
One of the children then asked his parents about a strange light that he could see in the sky above them.
In the skyline, all the family noticed an oval-shaped, pale blue iridescent light, like a big star, over the top of the houses.

Gef the Talking Mongoose (or the Dalby Spook) was an allegedly talking mongoose which was claimed to inhabit a farmhouse owned by the Irving family.
The Irvings' farm was located at Cashen's Gap near the hamlet of Dalby on the Isle of Man.
The story was given extensive coverage by the tabloid press in Britain in the early 1930s. The Irvings' claims gained the attention of parapsychologists and ghost hunters, such as Harry Price, Hereward Carrington, and Nandor Fodor.
