Marks Unexplained World Episode 83: The Death of Nancy Spungen

Nancy Laura Spungen was the American girlfriend of English musician Sid Vicious, and a figure of the 1970s punk rock scene. In October 1978, Spungen was found dead in the bathroom of the couple's room, with a single stab wound to the abdomen.
Vicious was charged with her murder, but died of a heroin overdose while on bail in February 1979 before the case went to trial.
Various authors and filmmakers have speculated about Vicious' role in Spungen's death and the possibility that Spungen was killed by a drug dealer who frequently visited their room.

Marks Unexplained World Episode 81: The Great London Beer Flood of 1814

The London Beer Flood was an accident at Meux & Co's Horse Shoe Brewery, London, on 17 October 1814.
It took place when one of the 22-foot-tall wooden vats of fermenting porter burst.
The escaping liquid dislodged the valve of another vessel and destroyed several large barrels: between 128,000 and 323,000 imperial gallons of beer were released in total.
The resulting wave of porter destroyed the back wall of the brewery and swept into an area of slum dwellings known as the St Giles rookery.
Eight people were killed, five of them mourners at the wake being held by an Irish family for a two-year-old boy.

The history of the plague in the village Eyam began in 1665 when a flea-infested bundle of cloth arrived from London for Alexander Hadfield, the local tailor.
Within a week his assistant George Viccars, noticing the bundle was damp, had opened it up.
Before long he was dead and more began dying in the household soon after.

The Highway of Tears is a 447 mile corridor of Highway 16 between Prince George and Prince Rupert in British Columbia, Canada, which has been the location of crimes against many Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women beginning in 1970.
The phrase was coined during a vigil held in Terrace, British Columbia in 1998, by Florence Naziel, who was thinking of the victims' families crying over their loved ones.
There are a disproportionately high number of Indigenous women on the list of victims.

The Nanjing Massacre or the Rape of Nanjing was the mass murder of Chinese civilians in Nanjing, the capital of the Republic of China, immediately after the Battle of Nanking in the Second Sino-Japanese War, by the Imperial Japanese Army. Beginning on December 13, 1937, the massacre lasted six weeks.
The perpetrators also committed other war crimes such as mass rape, looting, and arson.
The massacre is considered one of the worst atrocities of World War II.
